told a couple of you i'd write this up once it had some miles on it.
bought a 2020 Kenworth W900L in july through the lake park auction. 86 inch studio sleeper, PACCAR MX-13 at 510, 18 speed, 3.70 rears, 540k. i pull a belly dump for road work in the summer and haul hay and some grain in the winter.
it was sitting at a lender's yard in Lancaster, Texas, south of Dallas. i bid 86,000 blind and got it. for comparison the dealer in Bismarck had a 2019 W900L with 610k at 99,500 and wouldn't move.
delivery is free for the first 1,000 miles and then a flat 70 cents a mile. mine was about 330 over, the overage on the invoice was 231 dollars. it said so on the listing, no surprise there. it showed up in Minot 15 days after i paid.
didn't know they'd put the MX-13 in the long hood. how does it pull the hills around Minot with the belly dump full? i've only ever run cummins in anything with a long nose.
the MX-13 is a good engine, don't let the cummins crowd tell you otherwise. at 540k i'd look at the EGR valve and cooler, the weep hole on the coolant pump, and whether the DEF doser has ever been cleaned. have the kenworth dealer plug in and pull the full fault history, not just the active codes.

bismarck, it pulls fine. it's not a 565 X15 but at 80k over the hills north of town it doesn't embarrass me.
walt, had the dealer in Minot plug in, 180 bucks. two old codes, one for the sleeper HVAC blend door actuator, which explains why the bunk heat only worked on high. 140 for the part and i swapped it in the driveway. DEF doser was crusty and they cleaned it while it was in.
the listing said sleeper HVAC functional, and it was, sort of. not worth calling lake park over a 140 dollar part. the money back guarantee is for a truck that's materially not what they said, not a blend door.

86 for a 2020 W900L with the studio sleeper is a good number. i watched a 2020 with 600k go for 91 on IronPlanet in august. what did the tires look like?
did they ask you anything before you could bid? we're looking at one and i don't want to get into a bid we can't close on time.

reefer, steers were close to new, drives maybe 40 percent. i put a set of drives on it in october for 2,900 mounted.
linda, you register on their site and agree to the terms, then you bid. when i won they sent an invoice with wire instructions, and how long you have to pay is spelled out in the terms, read that part before you bid. you only get one number and you never see anyone else's, so there's no getting sucked into a bidding war. i picked 86 and went to bed.
the lake park people answered the phone every time i called, which is more than i can say for the auction house in Fort Worth.
